Basketball Game Preview: Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Boyd-Buchanan and Notre Dame are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers will welcome the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boyd-Buchanan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Notre Dame likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Boyd-Buchanan humbled Silverdale Academy with a 62-22 victory. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Notre Dame on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Collegedale Academy out of the water with a 68-32 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-17.

Boyd-Buchanan better focus on containing Cooper Campbell and Gaas Herman as the pair were huge in Notre Dame's win. Campbell posted 17 points, while Herman earned 15 points. The matchup was Herman's 18th in a row with at least ten points. Maximo Santiesteban was another key player, putting up nine points.

Notre Dame's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-13. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38.3 points. As for Boyd-Buchanan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Boyd-Buchanan strolled past Notre Dame in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 53-37. Will Boyd-Buchanan repeat their success, or does Notre Dame have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
