Baseball Game Preview: Westran Hornets vs. Macon Tigers

The Westran Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Macon Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westran's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Macon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Westran didn't have quite enough to beat Brunswick and fell 3-2. The matchup marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Macon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Chillicothe by a score of 5-4.

Grant Meisner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, Macon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Weydert, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Macon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Westran, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Westran beat Macon 3-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westran since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
