Baseball Recap: Hilliard Bradley Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Hilliard Bradley's offense. They fell just short of the Olentangy Liberty Patriots by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.

Sam Wendel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Hilliard Bradley's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Hilliard Bradley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Barkhimer, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Hilliard Bradley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Olentangy Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
