Baseball Recap: Creighton Prep Wins High-Profile Game Against Lincoln Southwest

Creighton Prep faced Lincoln Southwest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Junior Jays were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Silver Hawks. Considering the Junior Jays have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Easton Loucks looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Creighton Prep got a massive performance out of Charlie Ziola, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Ziola has become a key player for the Junior Jays: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Smithberg, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Creighton Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

Creighton Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
