Softball Game Preview: Napoleon Wildcats vs. Springfield Blue Devils

Napoleon is 0-8 against Springfield since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will take on the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Napoleon was handed a 12-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Rossford 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 11th.

Faith Rubinstein (2026) was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carmen Rupp (2028), who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.

Napoleon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Springfield got themselves on the board against Ross on Tuesday, but Ross never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Little Giants. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Little Giants recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Springfield now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Napoleon, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Napoleon might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Springfield when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
