Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Asotin

Asotin waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna Broncos as they made off with a 16-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-1 back in April.

BLYTON HOLMAN was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, JACOB DOUGAN and CODY ELLS did most of the damage at the plate: DOUGAN went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while ELLS went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave DOUGAN a new career-high. Another player making a difference was CHASE ENGLE, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Asotin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Asotin's record now sits at 14-5. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Asotin beat the Broncos by a score of 11-0 later that day.
