Recap: Creekside Seminoles vs. Jefferson Dragons
With a playoff game on the line, the Creekside Seminoles rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 28-17. The win was familiar territory for Creekside who now have 11 in a row.
Creekside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Roderick McCrary, who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown. McCrary hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Vinson Berry, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Jefferson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sammy Brown. Despite the final result, he rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Brown was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
Creekside's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.4 points per game. As for Jefferson, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-1.
Creekside will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Coffee at 4:00 p.m. on December 13th. Coffee will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
