Baseball Game Preview: Bellingham Blackhawks vs. Douglas Tigers

The Bellingham Blackhawks will venture away from home to face off against the Douglas Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

Bellingham had taken Medway down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Blackhawks fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 10-9.

Colin Sherman was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Sherman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Nicholas Fantini made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Eric Johnston was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Douglas was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They skirted past Blackstone-Millville 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Chargers since May 8, 2019.

Douglas' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Benjamin Albert, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Another was Parker Vincent, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Bellingham's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Douglas, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
