Trenton Barry, Brooks Kneifl use the long ball to produce the top two baseball performances so far this spring.
As Nebraska's prep baseball teams have been preparing for district play beginning May 4, here at MaxPreps we've been busy combing through our baseball statistics database in order to display what we believe to be the Top 10 single-game offensive baseball performances so far this spring in the Cornhusker State.
And you won't be disappointed. In all, 17 Nebraska high school baseball players have put together games in which they were credited with eight runs or more when considering runs scored and runs batted in collectively.
It all begins with Wahoo/Bishop Neumann/Lincoln Lutheran senior Trenton Barry who ripped a pair of doubles and belted two home runs in a 13-3 win over Omaha Roncalli Catholic in early April. The owner of two Top 10 performances this week, Barry scored three times and knocked in eight runs in the win.
Sitting second this week is Brooks Kneifl of Wayne who, along with Barry, went 4-for-4 from the plate while chalking up a couple of doubles and annihilating a pair of round trippers. Kneifl scored three runs and accounted for five runs batted in during his all-star performance.
Stepping into the No. 3 spot this week is Central City/Fullerton/Centura senior Carter Noakes who was a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate, scored four runs and was credited with four runs batted in during a 20-6 win over Raymond Central. Noakes ripped a double and belted a pair of home runs in the early April win.
St. Paul/Palmer junior Ashton Meinecke and junior Colin Nowaczyk of Elkhorn North both scored four times and were credited with six runs batted in during recent wins to round out the Top 5 tied for fourth. Meinecke belted a trio of doubles during his performance while Nowaczyk smashed a pair of home runs.
Classes A, B and C are all represented in this week's Top 10. Statistics for this week's Top 10 were pulled from MaxPreps' statistics database Tuesday, April 25.
As you browse through the Top 10, the top line introduces the player that made this week's Top 10 while line two and beyond was reserved for the athlete's statistics and the result of the game in which his Top 10 performance occurred.
A point system was used to determine the order of ranking this week. In the case of a tie, the player with the most total bases was granted the higher spot. If the players were tied in total bases, their performances were deemed a tie.
