North Suburban Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Blaise Lavista Delivers Best Effort of Season

Sadly, Blaise Lavista posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Libertyville over Lake Forest on Friday. Lavista wasn't messing around, picking up 230 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The game was his eighth straight with two or more receiving touchdowns.

Lavista must have Lake Forest's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Lavista saw the Scouts), he picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Schambow Posts Huge Game in 42-35 Loss

Keeping Lavista company is Quinn Schambow, a fellow Libertyville player. He threw for 433 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. Schambow is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least four every time he's taken the field this season.

Unfortunately for Lake Forest, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Schambow. When Schambow last faced the Scouts back in September of 2023, he threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 32 yards and a touchdown.

Young Made His Presence Known in Mundelein's 35-0 Victory

Logan Young put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in August on Friday. He threw for 131 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 56 yards. He is becoming a predictor of Mundelein's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

Mundelein moved to 4-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Young's next match is against Lake Forest on Friday, where he'll look to repeat that solid effort.

A Season-Best Effort from Ethan Connelly Leads Mundelein over Waukegan

On Friday, Mundelein got the W thanks in part to Ethan Connelly playing the best football he has all season. Connelly picked up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

On the year, Connelly has caught those 2 touchdowns while averaging 23.9 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 6.86 receiving yards per game.
