Softball Recap: Tavares Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Six must be Tavares's lucky number: they beat Citrus with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Bulldogs beat the Hurricanes by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won three in a row.

Emersyn Lee was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jasmine Lawrence, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Tavares' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Citrus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

Looking ahead, Tavares will square off against Vanguard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Citrus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
