Baseball Recap: Grosse Pointe North Comes Up Short

Grosse Pointe North extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-23-1 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday.

Max Praet spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grosse Pointe North saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Lipscomb, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Grosse Pointe South, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 27-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.

On Grosse Pointe South's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Dane Lezotte gave up a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grosse Pointe North will welcome Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Grosse Pointe South, they will be playing at home against University Liggett at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
