Baseball Game Preview: Freeport Yellowjackets vs. Yough Cougars

Freeport is a perfect 4-0 against Yough since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Yellowjackets will host the Cougars at 4:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Freeport has three straight victories, Yough has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Freeport beats Yough with 13 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Burrell on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Yough couldn't beat Ligonier Valley on Wednesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the seventh inning. The Cougars fell just short of the Rams by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one run.

John S made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Tyler B also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Yough's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Freeport, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Freeport took their victory against Yough in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
