Baseball Game Preview: West Carter Comets vs. Fairview Eagles

West Carter is 1-8-1 against Fairview since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Comets will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Bath County hit West Carter with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Comets fell 10-7 to the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Fairview fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against St. Joseph Central on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Irish by a score of 3-2.

Mason Lemaster put in work no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Fairview's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Lemaster was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Jeffery Everetts made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with six stolen bases and one run. Fairview is 6-2 when Everetts posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-9 otherwise.

Fairview's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for West Carter, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
