Johns Creek posted their closest victory since October 1, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions. For the Gladiators, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Golden Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2023.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Johns Creek got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 15-25, 15-13.

Despite the defeat, St. Pius X Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eveliina Campbell had 14 assists and three aces. Those 14 assists set a new season-high mark for Campbell.

The win made it two in a row for Johns Creek and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for St. Pius X Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Johns Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Blessed Trinity on the 14th. As for St. Pius X Catholic, they will square off against Whitefield Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
