Soccer Game Preview: Fort Payne vs. Gadsden City

For the first time this season, Fort Payne will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will venture away from home to face off against the Gadsden City Titans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Fort Payne took on Crossville on Thursday. Fort Payne never let Crossville get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Fort Payne hit Crossville with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Conner Hughes, Klae Theakston, and Hayden Chambers.

Meanwhile, Gadsden City had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Aggies. The win was all the more spectacular given the Titans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Aggies are ranked 17th).

The victory got Gadsden City back to even at 4-4. As for Fort Payne, their win bumped their record up to 3-5-2.

Fort Payne beat Gadsden City 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Fort Payne repeat their success, or does Gadsden City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
