Preview: Warren Central Vikings vs. Saltillo Tigers
The Warren Central Vikings will be playing at home against the Saltillo Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren Central will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Warren Central stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Columbus 41-6 at home. Given Warren Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Columbus is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Warren Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eric Collins Jr. led the charge by rushing for 45 yards and two touchdowns. Collins Jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Teryn Green, who rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Saltillo suffered a rough 47-25 loss at the hands of Center Hill on Thursday. Saltillo has struggled against Center Hill recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Warren Central has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Columbus and 3-7 Ridgeland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.4% over those games). As for Saltillo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
