Preview: Howard Huskies vs. Westside Seminoles
Howard is 1-9 against Westside since November of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Howard Huskies will head out on the road to challenge the Westside Seminoles at 6:00 p.m. Howard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 390th, while Westside is ranked 177th).
Howard had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Perry with a 61-57 victory on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Westside sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 victory over Perry on Monday.
Westside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joshua Harden, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Christian Little was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Howard's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-15. Westside's record now sits at 17-8.
Things could have been worse for Howard, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-44 loss to Westside in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Howard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
