Basketball Game Preview: Williston Red Devils vs. P.K. Yonge Blue Wave

Two dominant guards in Traeston Armstrong and Decedric Sowell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Williston Red Devils will look to defend their home court on Friday against the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Williston has seven straight wins, P.K. Yonge has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Williston is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Palatka 76-35. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Red Devils' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Panthers are ranked 428th).

Meanwhile, P.K. Yonge played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 68-47 to Newberry. The Blue Wave were down 61-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Williston's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for P.K. Yonge, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Williston skirted past P.K. Yonge 64-61 in their previous meeting back in December of 2025. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Sowell, who went 8-for-20 to rack up 20 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Red Devils still be able to contain Sowell? There's only one way to find out.
