Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Range vs. Thornton

The Mountain Range Mustangs will challenge the Thornton Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Range is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

Mountain Range took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Pomona with a sharp 11-1 victory. Addison Speidell was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Mountain Range used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Pomona. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Nohemi Fresquez (50), Isabella Rodriguez (60), and Madison Schneider (65). The trio had averaged 26.7, 24, and 36 minutes respectively before Thursday's game. Rodriguez made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal and one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Thornton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to Northglenn.

Mountain Range's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three matches. As for Thornton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
