Softball Recap: Classical Takes Down Ranked Central

Classical faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Purple were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Purple, who have now won five contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Emmy Tavares was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Amya Manston, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Classical kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Classical, bringing their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Classical will challenge Narragansett at 4:00 p.m. on May 1. As for Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 17-6 victory against Juanita Sanchez Complex on the 23rd.
