Baseball Recap: Selma Takes a Loss

Selma lost against Sanger back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Selma Bears took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sanger Apaches. The game marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Selma saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Esparza, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Jacob Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Selma's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sanger, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

When Selma and Sanger next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Selma will face off against Immanuel and their seven-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Sanger will try to stop Madera's seven-game winning streak when they meet at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
