Softball Recap: Capital Takes Down Ranked Boise

Capital faced Boise in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Brave. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kiya Caltabiano made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, McKenna Chavez was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lizzy Turpen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Capital kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 12-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Capital's record now sits at 14-10. As for Boise, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Capital nor Boise have any future games scheduled.
