Basketball Recap: Aiken Comes Up Short

Aiken suffered their biggest loss since November 25, 2024 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 69-24 loss at the hands of the North Augusta Yellow Jackets. The game marked the Fighting Green Hornets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Aiken still got an impressive performance from Malasia Jamison, who posted 14 points. Jamison has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Even though they lost, Aiken smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Leading North Augusta to victory were Celena Grant and Ashley Walker. Grant dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Walker went 5 of 9 on her way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Boney, who put up eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Aiken moved to 8-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for North Augusta, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Aiken will host Brookland-Cayce at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Augusta, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against South Aiken at 6:00 p.m. North Augusta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season.
