Baseball Recap: Unionville Victorious

Unionville gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a run and slipped past the Springfield Cougars 4-3. That's more bragging rights for the Longhorns, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Nate Bonsall looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Unionville's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drew Puleo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Puleo a new career-high. Another was Chase Parise, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Unionville's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Springfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Unionville nor Springfield have any future games scheduled.
