Basketball Game Preview: Armstrong Wildcats vs. Atlee Raiders

Armstrong is 1-9 against Atlee since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Armstrong Wildcats will face off against the Atlee Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Armstrong will be strutting in after a victory while Atlee will be coming in after a defeat.

Armstrong is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Varina: they outscored them in every quarter. Armstrong strolled past Varina with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 46-31. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Atlee had to suffer through a 64-31 loss at the hands of Hanover. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Armstrong has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points over those games. As for Atlee, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Armstrong came up short against Atlee when the teams last played on Tuesday, falling 57-53. Can Armstrong avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
