Basketball Recap: Churubusco Eagles vs. Westview Warriors
Churubusco lost against Westview back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Churubusco Eagles took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westview Warriors.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Patty Wiggs, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Sinclair, who earned 13 points and six rebounds.
Westview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Janissa Lehman led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Lehman is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was JJ Whetstone, who put up 11 points and five boards.
Churubusco's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Westview, they pushed their record up to 5-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Churubusco will square off against Eastside at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastside will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Churubusco surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westview, they will welcome Garrett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westview is facing Garrett at the right time seeing as Garrett is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
