Softball Recap: Whitehall Comes Up Short

Whitehall fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Osseo-Fairchild on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder. The Norse were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunder apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Carson Coburn and Taylor Johnson did some serious damage despite the final result: Coburn went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Johnson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Coburn has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Harlow Foss, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Whitehall dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Osseo-Fairchild, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitehall will challenge Pepin/Alma at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Osseo-Fairchild, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
