4A/3A Conference 1 recap October 1, 2013
Erwin extended the longest winning streak in 4A/3A Conference 1 this week by beating A.C. Reynolds, 69-28. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Warriors.
Erwin was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Rockets. Mike Sexton's team came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 61 last week.
Roberson's Reggie Pinner and Marcus Jenkins have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Pinner has thrown for 1,730 yards this season, while Jenkins, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 28 catches for 492 yards. Enka's Tommy Holloway leads the league in rushing yards with 536.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when A.C. Reynolds takes on Asheville. Shane Laws' team's offense has racked up 186 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Cougars have allowed only 89 on the year.
The Rockets are currently in fourth, while Asheville is in second.
The Warriors moved up to 23 from 61 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A/3A Conference 1. Erwin was able to move up by besting A.C. Reynolds 69-28.
