Volleyball Recap: Payson Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Campo Verde

Payson faced Campo Verde in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Longhorns fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 2-1. The loss put an end to the Longhorns' undefeated start to the season.

Darla Long paced Payson's offense, picking up nine kills. Long got some help from Madi Plain and her 16 assists. Maddie Johns controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Payson fell to 5-1. As for Campo Verde, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Payson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Veritas Prep on the 30th. As for Campo Verde, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Gilbert Christian on the 30th.
