Soccer Game Preview: Holtville vs. Wetumpka

Holtville hasn't had much luck against Wetumpka recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home pitch against the Indians at 5:30 p.m. Holtville will be strutting in after a win while Wetumpka will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Holtville made easy work of Booker T. Washington Magnet and carried off a 7-1 victory. Holtville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Wetumpka managed to keep up with Tuscaloosa Academy until halftime last Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Indians lost 4-0 to the Knights. Wetumpka just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Holtville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matchups. As for Wetumpka, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8-1.

Holtville suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Wetumpka when the teams last played back in March of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bulldogs were down 3-0.
