Softball Recap: Lawrenceburg Starts Season with Win Against Rising Sun

Lawrenceburg had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rising Sun Shiners on Wednesday, sneaking past 6-4. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 9-0 victory the Shiners walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Ava Hall was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Hall was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jill Cavanaugh, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

Lawrenceburg has already played their next matchup (against Southwestern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Rising Sun, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Hauser at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
