Basketball Recap: Broken Arrow Tigers vs. Choctaw Yellowjackets
The Broken Arrow Tigers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Choctaw by a score of 48-46. While losing is never fun, Broken Arrow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked third).
Macy Marraccini and McKenzie Mathurin certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Marraccini scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Mathurin scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Taryn Jacobs was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Broken Arrow's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Choctaw, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Broken Arrow will take on the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ponca City is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses. As for Choctaw, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. Bixby is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
