Softball Game Preview: Columbus Sharks vs. Walton Wildcats

After both having extra time off, the Columbus Sharks and the Walton Wildcats will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are still undefeated (Columbus has four wins , while Walton has five dating back to last season).

Columbus barely beat Evander Childs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Sharks were the clear victors by a 29-6 margin over the Tigers last Wednesday. Fans of the Sharks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Meanwhile, Walton earned an 11-7 win over Monroe Campus last Tuesday. Give the Wildcats' hitters some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest runs they've scored all season.

Columbus' victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 11.8 runs thus far. As for Walton, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything went Columbus' way against Walton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Columbus made off with a 7-1 victory. Do the Sharks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
