Basketball Game Preview: Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs vs. Lincoln Leadership Academy Lions

The Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs will square off against the Lincoln Leadership Academy Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Maritime Academy Charter is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 73-53 margin over South Philadelphia on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Maritime Academy Charter had a senior duo take command as Jadin Aviles almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine steals and Jayriel Arroyo went 9 of 20 en route to 24 points and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aviles has scored all season. Breon Doe was another key player, putting up three points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Maritime Academy Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Leadership Academy waltzed into their game on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 69-46 win. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

Lincoln Leadership Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for Maritime Academy Charter, they pushed their record up to 7-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Maritime Academy Charter beat Lincoln Leadership Academy 85-78 in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Will Maritime Academy Charter repeat their success, or does Lincoln Leadership Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
