Recap: Heartland Christian Saints vs. Calvary Christian EAGLES
The Heartland Christian Saints lost against the Calvary Christian EAGLES on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Heartland Christian took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calvary Christian.
When it comes to explaining why Heartland Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Landon Clemens. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clemens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reagan Clemens, who scored eight points.
Calvary Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josiah Obando, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Obando is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Braeden Pero was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds.
Heartland Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Calvary Christian, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Heartland Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Crosspointe Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Crosspointe Christian Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins, Heartland Christian a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Calvary Christian will take on Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Varsity Opponent has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 20.
