Baseball Recap: JAG Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

While JAG put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Talladega. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jamori Mallard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Maree Hall and Laking Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Hall scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1, while Anderson scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. JAG is undefeated when Hall posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Leighton Anderson was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

JAG has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Talladega, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. JAG will host Central of Coosa County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Talladega, they will take on Ragland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
