Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Herriman's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Herriman took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Riverton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Silverwolves 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Silverwolves back in March, they had to take a 12-1 loss.

Ashlyn Beratto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, McKenzie Quintero was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sofia Lancaster, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Herriman is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Riverton, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 20-3.

Looking ahead, Herriman will challenge Bingham at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Miners will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Riverton, they will take on Copper Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Silverwolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
