Preview: Ragland Purple Devils vs. Talladega County Central Fighting Tigers
The Ragland Purple Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Talladega County Central Fighting Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ragland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on Winterboro with a sharp 46-26 win. The result was nothing new for Ragland, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Ragland found their leader in underclassman A'ron Lee, who rushed for 256 yards on only 12 carries. Lee's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Brayden Byers was another key contributor, gaining 62 total yards and a touchdown.
Ragland's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Brett Sisson and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Talladega County Central's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Donoho 23-21.
Ragland's win on Thursday bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Talladega County Central, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Ragland against Talladega County Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 50-0 victory.
