Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Eden vs. Tennyson

The Mt. Eden Monarchs will square off against the Tennyson Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Eden will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Mt. Eden's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Encinal with a sharp 4-0 win. That four goal margin sets a new team best for the Monarchs this season.

Diego Villagomez and Alekzandr Medina scored all four of Mt. Eden's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tennyson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged San Leandro out 2-1 on Tuesday. While the Lancers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13-2), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tennyson pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those five games. As for Mt. Eden, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Mt. Eden beat Tennyson by a goal in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 1-0. Does Mt. Eden have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tennyson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
