Basketball Recap: Oxford Academy Takes a Loss

Oxford Academy lost against Artesia back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Oxford Academy Patriots took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Artesia Pioneers.

Artesia had a senior duo take command as CJ Okeke went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five assists and Jovell Tate went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Stewart, who posted four points and ten rebounds.

Oxford Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Artesia, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Oxford Academy will host Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pioneer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 contests -- so hopefully Oxford Academy likes a good challenge. As for Artesia, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-39 win against Whitney on the 10th.
