Baseball Recap: Benjamin's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Benjamin barely beat Palm Beach Gardens the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Benjamin Buccaneers never let the Palm Beach Gardens Gators get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Buccaneers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Thomas Harris tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Benjamin let Drew Buchanan and Luke Taplett run wild. Buchanan scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Taplett scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave Taplett a new career-high. Brandon Owens also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Benjamin's record is now 9-6. As for Palm Beach Gardens, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benjamin will venture away from home to take on Suncoast at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Suncoast's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Benjamin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Palm Beach Gardens, they will head out on the road to challenge Palm Beach Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Palm Beach Gardens is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
