Basketball Game Preview: Urbana Tigers vs. Mattoon Greenwave

The Urbana Tigers will head out to take on the Mattoon Greenwave at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Urbana is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Urbana had to suffer through a 60-13 loss at the hands of Manual. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the Rams are ranked 100th).

Meanwhile, Mattoon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 49-20 loss at the hands of Hillsboro.

Mattoon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Urbana, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Urbana suffered a grim 55-30 defeat to Mattoon in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Urbana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
