Basketball Game Preview: Chambers Cougars vs. McDowell Titans

The Chambers Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the McDowell Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Chambers' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 21 matchups.

Chambers is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against Hickory Ridge by the margin of a single free throw, 73-72. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Ragin' Bulls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Chambers got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Thompson out in front who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Thompson a new career-high in points. Markus Kerr was another key player, going 9-for-16 en route to 22 points.

Chambers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McDowell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They snuck past Hough with a 64-59 win on Tuesday.

Chambers pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.9 points over those games. As for McDowell, their record now sits at 23-4.
