Recap: Corinth Warriors vs. Holmes County Central Jaguars
The Corinth Warriors and the Holmes County Central Jaguars squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Corinth Warriors had to settle for second. Corinth took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holmes County Central. While losing is never fun, Corinth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Holmes County Central is ranked 30th).
Holmes County Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Garrison Davis led the charge by rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while also throwing for 128 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Jartavious Smart, who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Corinth has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Holmes County Central, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Corinth does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Holmes County Central will be playing at home against West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Point has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 186 points over their last four contests.
