Preview: Billings Wildcats vs. Marionville Comets
The Billings Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Marionville Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Billings will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Marionville is ranked 89th).
After soaring to 67 points the game before, Billings were a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 61-23 loss at the hands of Chadwick. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Billings in their matchups with Chadwick: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Marionville put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 59-22 victory over Hurley on the road. The result was nothing new for Marionville, who have now won six games by 37 points or more so far this season.
Marionville found their leader in underclassman Lanie Stokes, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Stokes. Anna Bright was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Billings now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Marionville, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Billings might still be hurting after the 59-36 loss they got from Marionville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Billings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
