Baseball Recap: Lake Wins Going Away Against Rootstown

Lake was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Rootstown on Friday. The Blue Streaks blew past the Rovers 12-2. Considering the Blue Streaks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

AJ Mitchell looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Josh Lippe was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Quior, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Lake's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Rootstown, they moved to 10-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Lake will face off against Aurora at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Blue Streaks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greenmen have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Rootstown, they will head out on the road to face off against Berkshire at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
