Basketball Recap: Omaha Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

Omaha Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past the Millard West Wildcats with a 53-48 win. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 57-51 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

Lenox Haynes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 21 on his way to 25 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Evan Rodgers, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Vince Long and Cade Walker certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Long had 11 points, while Walker almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Walker a new career-high in assists (five). Colvin Zimmerman was another key player, putting up three points.

Omaha Central now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Millard West, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Omaha Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-46 win against Pius X on the 14th. Millard West has also already played their next contest, a 74-71 defeat against Creighton Prep on the 14th.
