Basketball Recap: River Ridge Takes a Loss

River Ridge suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2024 on Saturday. They took a blow against the Newman Central Catholic Comets, falling 80-52. The Wildcats were probably out for revenge after losing 69-60 to them when the teams met back in February of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Joe Winter and Damon Dittmar certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Winter posted 16 points and six rebounds, while Dittmar went 6 for 15 en route to 13 points. Winter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Keleher, who earned four points.

River Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Newman Central Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.

River Ridge will challenge Pearl City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pearl City will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something River Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Newman Central Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-63 victory against Morrison on the 22nd.
