Softball Recap: Brooke Drops Highest Score of Season Against Catholic Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brooke). Everything went their way against the Catholic Central Crusaders on Wednesday as they made off with a 19-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bruins needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Karson Drumm tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Emma Hayman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emma Michel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Brooke kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Brooke is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-18 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Catholic Central, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Brooke will take on Union Local at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Catholic Central, they will be playing at home against Jefferson County Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
